Located in the Lagos Region, approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes by car from the city of Rio de Janeiro, São Pedro da Aldeia is a destination full of beautiful beaches with calm, crystal-clear waters!
A perfect option for those who want to escape the crowds of other beach towns in the region such as Búzios, Arraial and Cabo Frio and enjoy nature in more peaceful and quiet way.
Its calm waters are also perfect for groups with elderly people and/or children!
What to do in São Pedro da Aldeia, Rio de Janeiro?
Ilha do Boi:
Visit Ilha do Boi, this is one of the main and most beautiful attractions in the region and is located in Salina Beach (Praia Salina in portuguese), in the Praia Linda neighborhood. A tip is to take water and a snack if you are going to spend the day, as there are no kiosks there.
A positive point is that there is no need to take an umbrella, as the trees are close to the water and offer delicious shade for visitors!
Getting to this paradise is very easy, just type the destination into your preferred browser.
At low tide it is possible to observe Caminho de Moisés, an exposed sand bank that connects Praia da Salina to Ilha do Boi and, from a certain distance, it appears that visitors are walking on water!
When visiting this and other attractions, please don't forget to take your trash.
Trilha dos Cardeiros (Cardeiro's Hike):
Located on the Roberto Marinho farm, this low intensity hike has beautiful beaches and wonderful views of Lagoa de Araruama. The trail starts at the small harbor located at Praia do Sudoeste, the busiest and most popular beach in São Pedro.
Following the trail, you can find small beaches with very few people or even just for you! I don't know about you, but this is definitely my type of beach, I like the peace of admiring a beautiful view just listening to the sounds of the sea and the birds.
Ponta dos Cardeiros:
Continuing the trail, you will arrive at Ponta dos Cardeiros, another beautiful attraction on this trail.
Praia dos Cardeiros | Praia da fazenda Roberto Marinho
One of the most beautiful beaches in the region. Access is also possible by boat for those who do not wish to hike the Cardeiros trail.
Bela and I were shocked by the beauty of the place and stayed to admire the sunset and it was definitely the right decision, what a view!
An unforgettable day that ended with a wonderful spectacle in different shades of yellow and red! According to Bela, it was the most beautiful sunset of her life!
Casa da Flor
Casa da Flor is the materialization of the life purpose of Gabriel dos Santos, son of an indigenous woman and a former slave, who spent his life collecting shards and transforming them into flowers and his home.
Treated for much of his life as crazy man, my namesake's creation gained the status of Brazilian material cultural heritage by Iphan and is a national symbol of spontaneous architecture.
The visit is guided by his humble grandnephew, who tells curiosities and recites poems about his ancestor.
This is truly an enriching and exciting tour that exceeded my expectations.
To visit the place, you need to knock on the door of the house located on the right side of Casa da Flor.
The guide doesn't charge anything for his work, but I was grateful for all the attention and time he gave us during the tour and I gave him some money and I strongly recommend that you do the same if you visit Casa da Flor.
